October Magnolia

A southern magnolia tree is beautiful. I’ve been watching them. They grow strong, straight and tall. They have these dark green leaves that are tough, like leather. When they fall, they brown and go hard. They go so hard, they cut through steel. I have seen this.

The magnolia flower is one of the largest flowers I have ever seen. Creamy white, almost French vanilla petals open portals to parts of my heart only a magnolia has helped me feel.

It is beautiful. The magnolia. It’s miles away from home, but here it is, still growing.

Striving.

Yes, Magnolia.

You are magic.
